Treatment for liver cancer depends on the type that you have, and your age, medical history and treatment preferences.
Options include:
- Surgery – which may involve removing part of the liver or a liver transplant
- Radiation therapy – uses high-energy particles to target and destroy cancer cells
- Chemotherapy – involves the use of anti-cancer drugs which are taken orally (by mouth) or injected into the body
- Targeted therapies – focuses specifically on treating the patients’ type of cancer, with a focus on targeting cancer cells, and not healthy cells
