Biography

Dr Maitham Mathlum is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Geelong. After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree, Dr Mathlum commenced specialist oncology training in New Zealand. In 2007, he became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and is an active member of several leading cancer trial groups including Trans Tasman Oncology Group (TROG), European Oncology Trial Group (EORTC) and the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Genitourinary Group (FROGG).

Throughout his career, Dr Mathlum has maintained an active interest in clinical trials and research. He is a pioneer in immunotherapy clinical trials for prostate and head and neck cancers and is currently involved in nanoparticle technology research with RMIT University. Dr Mathlum has been active in numerous clinical trials and acted as a Principal Investigator of multiple international and Trans-Tasman trials for gastrointestinal, prostate, skin, melanoma and head and neck cancers. In addition to his private practice, Dr Mathlum is Director of Training at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.

Dr Mathlum is a leading radiation oncologist specialising in the use of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and stereotactic radiation therapy techniques. His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies, with special clinical interest in head and neck, breast, prostate, gastrointestinal and skin cancers.
