Dr Paul Eliadis is an experienced clinical haematologist and oncologist, committed to ensuring his patients receive the highest quality treatment and care.

Biography

Dr Paul Eliadis AM is a leading clinical haematologist and oncologist with over 35 years’ experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of malignant disease and stem cell transplantation. Dr Eliadis attended the University of Queensland (UQ), graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1977 and Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. He co-founded The Wesley Clinic for Haematology and Oncology, now known as Icon Cancer Centre Wesley, alongside Dr Ian Bunce and Dr Trevor Olsen in 1988. Over the last 30 years, the centre has developed into the largest and most progressive provider of haematology and oncology day services in Australia.

Dr Eliadis maintains a strong interest in clinical research, education and clinical trials, continuing to support medical research exploring promising opportunities in cancer care. He is involved in numerous clinical trials as both principal investigator and sub-investigator. Dr Eliadis is an active member of several leading medical associations and cancer trial groups including American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), BLOOD (HSANZ), American Society for Haematology (ASH), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA). Additionally, he is a member of the Icon Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), Icon Research Committee and The Wesley Hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee and Quality Assurance Committee.

Dr Eliadis is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and Royal College of Pathologists Australasia (FRCPA) in clinical haematology. Dr Eliadis is an Honorary Adjunct Professor in Medicine at Bond University and serves as a Senior Lecturer of Medicine at the University of Queensland. In 2019, he was named UQ Alumnus of the Year.

Dr Eliadis consults at Icon Cancer Centre Wesley and is a visiting medical officer at an outreach clinic at Cairns Private Hospital. In line with his clinical experience in clinical haematology and medical oncology, he has special clinical interest in the management of malignant lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, acute and chronic leukaemia, sarcoma, colorectal cancers, breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer and other malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract and central nervous system. Dr Eliadis works closely with radiation oncologists to manage patients with malignant disease requiring concurrent chemo-radiotherapy, these include patients with cancer of the head and neck, oesophagus and rectum.

In January 2020, he was awarded an Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to medicine as a clinical haematologist and commitment to charitable initiatives.
