Dr Luke McGhee was born and bred in Queensland growing up in a regional setting. He is passionate about rural and regional cancer patients having access to the best possible cancer treatment. He particularly enjoys being able to get to know his patients well along their cancer journey. He has a strong cancer research background with a supportive and compassionate approach to providing patient-focused care.
Biography
Dr Luke McGhee is a consultant Radiation Oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Cairns. He completed his medical training at University of Queensland graduating with an MBBS (Hons) and also has a Bachelor of Science (Physiology) from the University of Queensland. Dr McGhee completed radiation oncology training at Cairns Base Hospital, Nambour General Hospital, Townsville Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital and Mater Hospital.
Dr McGhee became a consultant at Icon Cancer Centre Cairns in 2013 and is also director of training. He has an interest in cancer research and is an active member of the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO).
He has a particular interest in skin malignancies, urogenital and breast cancers. He is also a lecturer at James Cook University Medical School.
