Dr Lisa Sullivan believes strongly in individualised patient-centred care that is empathetic and compassionate. She takes pride in providing clear and plain language communication to patients and their families. She offers joint treatment decision making based on up-to-date medical evidence, technological treatment advances and individual patient values.

Biography

Dr Lisa Sullivan graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1999 and undertook specialty training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. She received the CE Eddy and Kaye Scott prizes for the radiation oncology specialty exams. She was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2008. In 2009 she moved back home to Canberra where she has subsequently worked as a consultant radiation oncologist at The Canberra Hospital.

Dr Sullivan is committed to medical education both for medical students and radiation oncology trainees. She is a clinical lecturer at the Australian National University, a member of the Radiation Oncology Education and Training Committee and a Phase 1 examiner for the RANZCR. She was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in 2016.

Dr Sullivan has a particular interest in breast, gynaecological and brain cancers, as well as palliative radiation therapy for symptom control in patients with cancer. She has a special research interest in the quality of life of patients with cancer and is actively involved in clinical research. She has been the local principal investigator for multiple Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) trials at The Canberra Hospital and looks forward to ongoing involvement in clinical research.
