Biography

Dr Howard Mutsando is a clinical haematologist at Icon Cancer Centre Toowoomba. In 2000 he completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in Zimbabwe before moving to Ipswich Hospital in Queensland, Australia to complete residency and physician training. Dr Mutsando subsequently commenced clinical and laboratory haematology specialist training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

After gaining dual haematology fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA), Dr Mutsando relocated to Toowoomba in 2013 to commence a clinical and laboratory haematology staff specialist role at Toowoomba Hospital. He commenced private practice at Icon Cancer Centre Toowoomba in November 2016.

Dr Mutsando maintains a strong interest in education and clinical research, actively engaging in trainee haematology and general practice educational activities. He is also a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland. Dr Mutsando has co-authored several haematology journal articles in leading national and international publications and holds memberships with the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG) and Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ). He is experienced in caring for a wide range of malignant and non-malignant blood disorders including lymphoma, leukaemia, myeloma, thrombosis and haemostasis.
